The Feldenkrais Method of Movement®
The Feldenkrais Method®, is a movement education system, that connects movement with learning. It was named after its founder, Moshe Feldenkrais, (1904-1984) a scientist and judo expert, who combined scientific observation with his advanced understanding of human movement to successfully heal his own serious knee injury. Through meticulous self-study, awareness and subtle changes in movement he discovered that he was able to move in non-habitual ways which relieved his pain and ultimately improved his function. His personal experience led him to successfully help others , and evolved into the Feldenkrais Method®, that is now recognized and respected throughout the world today.
The Feldenkrais Method® was developed for group classes or private sessions. Body Align PT is unique in that the Feldenkrais Method® is offered by Luanne Sforza, an advanced, highly skilled physical therapist. She blends both these techniques in private, hands-on sessions that are 45 minutes in length and personalized to your needs and goals. Sessions begin with an interview and are directed towards improving your function, whether it be those very basic such as moving from sit to stand, sitting at a computer or the highly advanced skills of an athlete, musician or dancer. Self-discovery and awareness, the root of the Feldenkrais Method®, empower you with tools for developing alternative, non-habitual movement solutions.
